Volunteers can contribute in a wide variety of ways to the care of patients and their relatives. Amongst other things they welcome visitors, drive patients to our day care centre, help out on the in patient unit and assist with admin tasks. These tasks are the essential to support the work of our clinical and administrative teams. Other volunteers are trained to help patients and their families and carers at home and also during bereavement.
We try to make the duties as rewarding as possible and fellow volunteers and staff are very friendly. A number of study days and talks are arranged throughout the year for volunteers.
We request that volunteers give a minimum of four hours per week for at least one year. You will need to attend an initial training session and regular support meetings. Please note that one of the training sessions is always held on a Monday.
If you are 17 or over and able to offer us some time, please email
or write to; Yvonne Shield, Voluntary Service Manager (Patients) at North London Hospice, 47 Woodside Avenue, London, N12 8TF, stating your name, address and daytime telephone number.
You can also show your interest by volunteering in the Fundraising Department or by volunteering for jobs in one of our shops.
