A legacy will ensure that the charity you support now will benefit from your support in the future.

The best and most secure way of making or changing your Will is through your solicitor who will ensure it is legally sound.  There are a number of ways you can choose to leave a gift to the North London Hospice.

A residuary legacy means that you leave all or part of whatever is left over from your estate once all the other gifts – to family and friends – have been distributed

A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money

A specific legacy is a gift of a specific item of property.

As the Hospice is a registered charity, bequests do not attract inheritance tax and can therefore reduce your tax bill.  Furthermore, assets such as stocks, shares and property can be transferred to the Hospice free of capital gains tax.

The following wording may be useful for your solicitor.

“I give (whatever you decide) to the North London Hospice, Registered Charity 285300, 47 Woodside Avenue, London N12 8TF for its charitable purposes.  I further direct that the receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other Authorised Officer of the Hospice for the time being shall be sufficient discharge for the said legacy.”

Every donation received through a legacy, whether large or small, helps us to provide the vital medical, nursing and care services that make the North London Hospice such a special place.
