Visiting the Hospice

General Information for visitors

Visiting

Visiting times are not restricted unless requested by the patient.  To help us ensure safety and security we operate an entry monitoring system.  Access through the main door is between 8.30am and 8.30pm on most days.  When closed, visitors are requested to use the side entrance (arrowed from the main door).  Staff will unlock the side door using a video entry-phone.

Children are very welcome.  A playroom is available, but children must not be left unattended.  Pets are also welcome to visit but you are requested to inform the staff before bringing any animals into the Hospice.

Telephones

The Hospice switchboard operates between 9.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.  If you telephone outside these hours your call will go directly to the nurses’ station.  Please be patient if your call is not answered promptly.
Mobile phones must be switched off in the building.

Meals

We are unable to provide meals for visitors but drinks and snacks are available from the Coffee Shop in Reception.  Sandwiches may be purchased for lunchtime and should be ordered before 10am.  Please ask the staff for details.

Patient’ meals are usually served as follows:
Breakfast 8.30 – 11 am  (flexible)
Lunch  12.30pm  Monday to Friday, 12 noon  Weekends
Supper  6pm

For the comfort of patients and staff we have a no smoking policy for visitors and they are asked not to smoke on the premises.
