Day Care is available to patients over the age of 18 who live in the London Boroughs of Barnet, Haringey and Enfield. The service seeks to enable patients sense of self worth by promoting independence in a supportive environment.
The Day Centre is open 10am to 3pm Monday and Thursday for patients over the age of 65 Tuesday for patients between the ages of 50 - 65 Fridays for patients under 50 - Referral criteria
- Require supervision of their illness/symptoms
- Require a short period of rehabilitation/adaptation of up to 12 weeks
- Require support to enable them to cope with their illness and/ or its implications
- Would benefit from activities such as art, reflection and complementary therapies
- Require emotional, spiritual and social support
- Have a carer or relative who requires a regular period of respite
Transport The patient must be able to provide his or her own transport or be safely driven to Day Care, using volunteer transport. Patients are encouraged to attend for the whole day 10 am - 3pm in order to gain maximum benefit from the service. Activities Professional and volunteer staff provide a structured but flexible programme of therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing quality of life. These include: - Arts/crafts
- Complementary Therapies e.g. Aromatherapy, Massage,
- Reflexology
- Hairdressing
- Poetry
- Reminiscence
